Officials told to address grievances of teachers

MADURAI: Director of School Education P. Perumalsamy conducted a State-level review meeting with Chief Educational Officers (CEO) of all districts here on Friday.

At the meeting, specific instructions were given to the CEOs to conduct a meeting on the last Saturday of every month to hear the grievances of school teachers and headmasters. He asked the department staff to look into the grievances of staff working in the government and aided schools and address them immediately.

During the six-hour meeting, he also enquired about the issues concerning high and higher secondary schools in the State such as infrastructure, teachers’ appointment and preparing students for public examinations. Implementation of various government schemes announced for school children was also discussed.

The monthly review meeting, which is usually conducted in Chennai, was held here in which 30 CEOs participated.

Joint Directors in the Department of School Education G. Arivoli and D. Rajendran were also present at the meeting along with Madurai CEO R. Pandurangan.
