Nagapattinam: Nearly 25,000 children taking noon-meals in the schools in Nagapattinam district will soon be provided with stainless food plates and tumblers.
The Government has also decided to provide cooking vessels for the noon-meal centres, said V.Manivasan, Director of Social Welfare, here on Friday.
Reviewing the implementation of the noon-meal programme and the supply of three eggs per week to the children, Mr. Manivasan said that the Government had allocated Rs.8.50 lakh for providing new stainless steel food plates and tumblers for the children.
Besides, Rs.3.50 lakh would be spent on purchasing cooking vessels.
Mr. Manivasan who visited the Government Orphanage said that adequate teachers would be posted for teaching the orphanage children and a new compound constructed for the old age home here.
