New DIG assumes office

MADURAI: Sandeep Mittal, a 1995-batch IPS officer, assumed office as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Madurai Range) here on Friday.

Prior to this posting, Mr. Mittal had served as DIG of Police (Dindigul Range) and in the Narcotics Control Bureau, New Delhi, among others.

After taking charge, he told reporters that the police would take stern action against anti-social elements as per the law. In a bid to prevent road accidents, highway patrolling would be intensified. He also assured to redress public grievances effectively.
