NLC: deadlock continues

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The negotiations between representatives of contract workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation and the management held here on Tuesday did not yield any result.

N. Muthu, general manager (personnel and administration) of the NLC, said the next round of talks would be held here on June 12. Regularisation of the service of 13,000 workers and “equal pay equal work” are the demands of the workers. H. Mahadevan, deputy general secretary of the All-India Trade Union Congress, said the NLC representatives were not competent to decide on the issues.
