NABARD schemes highlighted

Puducherry: Chief General Manager of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Chennai, K.V.Raghavulu, who held discussions with Chief Minister N.Rangasamy here on Tuesday, apprised the latter of the Task Force report on revival of rural credit institutions relating to short-and long-terms credits.

A release from the Assistant General Manager of the NABARD (Puducherry ), R. Muralidharan said that Mr. Raghavulu discussed with the Chief Minister various developmental aspects with reference to rural infrastructural and institutional development.

He requested the administration to take necessary steps to implement the recommendations of the Professor Vaidyanathan Committee. It was indicated to the Chief Minister that as per the revival package recommended by the Task Force, the Pondicherry State Cooperative Bank might get assistance to the tune of Rs.5.53 crore for writing off the accumulated losses, for computerisation and training of the staff of the bank. The Puducherry Central Cooperative Land Development Bank would be eligible for a Rs.1.5-crore aid to write off the losses under the “Long Term revival package”.
