Model Code of Conduct lifted

ERODE: Model Code of Conduct, which came into implementation following the Election Commission of India announcing election in March this year, has ceased to be in operation.

A letter from Naresh Gupta, chief electoral officer, Tamil Nadu, to all department heads and district collectors says that following instructions from the Election Commission of India, he wishes to convey that the Code ceases to be in operation.

At the district level, the cessation of the implementation of the Code will pave the way for the conduct of the weekly grievance meeting and monthly farmers’ grievance meeting, aside from identifying and distributing aids to beneficiaries.
