Tirupur: The five-member professional team the from United States who came to Tirupur for a week-long stay as part of a Rotary International cultural exchange programme, left the city on Monday with a mixed bag of experiences.

The team headed by Gorden Hedahl, a retired professor of Higher Education and Theatre at Wisconsin University, had Jaffrey Blanks, an executive recruiter; Sarah Bjerke, a middle school teacher; Nikki Kubista, a lawyer; and Stephanie Haddad, an NGO program director as members.

Recalling the stay in the knit city, Mr. Hedahl had good words about the Rotarians of Rotary District 3202 here who turned out to be their host. “Though spicy, the South Indian dishes served to us were extremely delightful and took us through a different culinary expedition,” he told The Hindu.

However, the U.S. team, which have only experiences of well disciplined traffic back home, got the taste of Tirupur during their travel through city roads. “Oh, it is scary to see vehicles zipping past without maintaining any lane discipline,” said Mr. Hedahl. The U.S. team later felicitated on Sunday.
