Man beheads wife

Police arrested a conservancy worker for allegedly murdering his wife on Friday.

Police said S. Muthuraj (49), a conservancy worker from Vellaalankulam under Seethaparpanallur police station limits, suspected his wife Kanchana alias Jamuna (45), a mother of three children, of having an illicit affair. It triggered frequent quarrel between the couple. Moreover, Muthuraj, an alcoholic, used to torture his wife to give money for buying liquor everyday.

When Kanchana was preparing breakfast on Friday morning, Muthuraj, under the influence of alcohol, picked-up quarrel with her and chopped her head off even as his children were witnessing it.

After dropping the head in front a nearby temple, Muthuraj surrendered before the police.

Alangulam police have registered a case.
