MRTS service to be partially suspended today

CHENNAI: As part of security measures for the inaugural function of the new Assembly and Secretariat complex at Omanthoorar Estate, Anna Salai, MRTS service between Chennai Beach and Thirumailai stations will be suspended on Saturday from 4.45 p.m. till the end of the function. The last train to Velachery before the suspension of MRTS services will leave Chennai Beach at 4.25 p.m. and from Velachery at 4.10 p.m., a press release from Southern Railway said.

However, shuttle services from Velachery to Thirumailai will be operated at a frequency of 30 minutes during the period when the services between Chennai Beach and Thirumailai would be suspended. Shuttle services from Velachery to Thirumailai will be operated from 4.40 p.m. to 8.10 p.m. and from Thirumailai to Velachery from 5.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Special trains

The Southern Railway would operate special trains on Sunday between Chennai Beach and Velachery to clear the extra rush of passengers in view of the IPL cricket match to be held at M.A. Chidambram Stadium, Chepauk.

The special services from Chennai Beach will be operated at 7.10 p.m., 7.30 p.m., 11.30 p.m. and 11.40 p.m.

From Velachery the special trains would leave at 6.55 p.m., 7.15 p.m., 11.15 p.m. and 11.25 p.m.
