MMK entry will have no impact: IUML

TIRUCHI: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has formed committees in all the 40 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu to garner support for the candidates of the DMK-led alliance during the forthcoming general elections, its State president K.M. Khader Mohideen said on Thursday. Speaking to the media here, Mr. Mohideen said that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had executed several developmental measures in the last five years besides finding solutions for the internal and external problems. It was the UPA government which had created a separate Ministry of Minority Affairs which was also an achievement, he added.Asked whether the decision of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam-backed Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) to contest in the general elections would split the Muslim votes, Mr. Mohideen claimed that 95 per cent of the Muslim community were with the IUML.

The entry of MMK would have no impact, he said.
