Local holiday on May 14

VELLORE: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a local holiday in Vellore district on May 14, to enable the public and the State government employees to participate in the ‘Sirasu’ festival to be held at the Gangaiamman Temple in Gudiyatham on that day.

June 14 to be working day

According to a release from Collector Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, in lieu of May 14, June 14 (Saturday) would be a working day for all State government offices in the district, while June 15 (Sunday) would be a working day for the employees of the government printing presses.

Since the local holiday is not covered by the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, treasuries and sub-treasuries would work with skeleton staff to transact urgent security-related government business, the release said.
