ERODE: Four police constables were reinstated on February 14.

Seven police constables were dismissed from service after Veerappan stole seven guns and cash from the Vellitiruppur Police Station on December 20, 1998.

They moved the Madras High Court and in November 2006 the court ordered their reinstatement. Of the seven, Mancikkam, a Sub Inspector and Duraisamy, a Head Constable attained 58 years and were treated as retired. Another Head Constable Manickkam died and family pension was ordered to his wife.

ERODE: The Gobichettipalayam Fast Track Court judge, Premkumar, sentenced to life imprisonment Sankaran, a lorry driver, for murdering a woman who refused to give him money.
