LIC gives grant to Isha

Coimbatore: Life Insurance Corporation of India Golden Jubilee Foundation has sanctioned Rs. 25 lakh to ISHA Education for the Isha Vidhya Project. The grant has been released under the Infrastructure Development – Education, towards the cost of construction of four class rooms, library and toilet block at Isha Vidhya School, Sandegoundenpalayam, Coimbatore.

The Foundation was established by Life Insurance Corporation Of India in 2006 as a public trust towards fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.

Since its inception , LIC GJF has financed and supported many education , health and community projects all over India with focus being on Infrastructure Development for the underprivileged sections of society.

The Isha Vidhya Project had been identified and recommended for the Golden Jubilee Foundation Grant by K G Somasundaram, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC Coimbatore Division.

V. K. Sharma Zonal Manager - LIC of India, South Zone, Chennai, presented the cheque of Rs. 25 lakh on behalf of LIC GJF to Krishnan Venkatraman, Project Director, Isha Vidhya , on the Isha Vidhya School premises on Tuesday, in the presence of T Sitharthan, Chief, LIC GJF, Mumbai. K G Somasundaram, Senior Divisional Manager, M. Govindaraju, Marketing Manager, T. Bhaskaran, Manager [Sales], K. Gurusamy, Manager [Sales] LIC Coimbatore Division took part.

Mr. Sharma said that GJF was formed with a corpus of Rs. 50 crore has so far sanctioned grants for 60 projects across India. The support from LIC to the tune of Rs. 10 crore per annum has resulted in a total corpus of Rs. 90 crore, the interest from which is utilised for disbursing grants.
