CHENNAI: Kurukshetra `08, the premier annual national-level technical festival organised by students of the College of Engineering, Anna University, is all set to kick in by January next year.

Enthused by the overwhelming response to last year’s edition, in which thousands of students from top engineering and management institutes from all over the country participated, the team is planning a bigger and better version this year.

Rs. 10 lakh at stake

Apart from the prize money of Rs. 10 lakh at stake, there are internships to be won. With more than 35 events, including competitions such as ‘AI Programming’, ‘Software Modulation’, ‘Contraption’ and ‘Mega Structures’ for the techies and ‘PD3 ’, ‘Rocketry’ and ‘Innovate’ for newbie inventors, Kurukshetra `08 promises a mixed bag.

Apart from the competitions, the event has also lined up guest lectures and video conferences, not to speak of on-the spot events such as the Kurukshetra Open Quiz and Biz Quiz by popular quizmasters Navin Jaykumar and Gopal Kidao. Robotics, one of the most popular events, comes with a prize money of Rs. 1.5 lakh this time, and incorporates a nation-wide Robotics Challenge under the name XCEED.

With the whole show run by students – professors only play a mentoring role – Kurukshetra nurtures in-house technicality through ‘Project-K’, the mega engineering challenge exclusively for students of CEG, MIT, AC Tech and SAP, with Rs. 25,000 worth of prize money.

The event will be on from January 22 to 25. Registrations are open at >www.kurukshetra.org.in. More details can be had by e-mailing helpdesk@kurukshetra. org.in.
