CHENNAI: “It is so refreshing to do a feel-good, fun-filled film,” says actor Jeeva about Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS), which will hit the cinemas on February 13, just ahead of Valentine’s Day.

After films such as Ram, Katradu Tamizh and Rameswaram, in which the actor made a mark with his portrayal of rather serious and offbeat roles, Jeeva says he has finally got to play the person he is in real life for SMS, which is a Vikatan Talkies production.

“It was a laugh riot on the sets. Everyday, I would came back home smiling after the shoot. It’s so much fun when you’re playing someone like you. This is the age for me to do such vibrant roles.”

Debutant director M. Rajesh, who has worked with directors S.A. Chandrasekhar and Ameer earlier, says he decided to approach Jeeva as soon as he finalised his story.

“Jeeva is a very lively performer and I knew he would be just right for this role. The story is about two youngsters and their clashing egos. It will reflect what we see in most relationships, but it is hilarious,” he said. Speaking of his team, the director said music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, lyricist Na.Muthukumar and cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan added more magic to the project.

This film is also the first production of Vikatan Talkies. Producer B. Srinivasan said: “It is a full-fledged entertainer packed with humour. This film is for the youth in everybody.”

“My grandfather [S.S.Vasan] was a veteran in this field. It would not be right to compare my attempt with his work, but I hope to be a chip off the old block,” he said.

Whether it is about the scenes featuring actors Santhanam and Jeeva or the fights between the hero and heroine, the audience will be guaranteed of a few hours of roaring laughter, the crew promised.
