COIMBATORE: A team of 27 delegates from 10 countries were in Coimbatore on Thursday, interacting with local entrepreneurs and visiting agro industries. The visit was organised by the National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training for participants of two of its programmes - planning and promotion of agro industries and promotion of micro enterprises.

The participants were Government officials, promotional agency and non-Governmental Organisation representatives.

Such study tours help the participants share their experience with Indian entrepreneurs and know more about industrial growth here, the problems faced by units, and promotional measures that they benefit from, say N.R. Prasad Reddy, faculty member of Centre for Industrial Planning and Development of NISIET and M. Subba Rao, consultant with the institute.

The delegation had a meeting with members of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association here. "These meeting can also lead to business enquiries for machinery or products for our industries," they say. The visitors plan to visit Tirupur and also Kerala.
