TIRUCHI: Now, a chance for the younger lot to walk the path of fame. After the success of `Airtel Super Singer,' the mobile service provider, in association with Vijay TV, has launched `Airtel Super Singer Junior,' a talent hunt show for finding the best singing talent in Tamil Nadu aged 6-14 years.

Having selected 15 candidates from Coimbatore zone, the audition for Tiruchi zone will be held on February 17 and 18 at the Kalai Kaveri College of Fine Arts.

Airtel customers who have registered and recorded their voice on 64648 will be shortlisted and invited for the audition before a jury, which comprises well-known playback singers `Pop' Shalini and Srilekha Parthasarathy.

Those who haven't recorded their voice could also take part in the competition directly by registering their names on 64648, and the first 150 registrations will be given preference on the opening day.

"`Airtel Super Singer Junior' is an endeavour to showcase the talent of budding singers. With various game shows currently being very popular, we expect a warm welcome from the audience for this reality show as well," R. Balachandran, Assistant vice-president, Strategic Planning, Vijay Television Private Limited, said at a press conference here on Friday.

The 45 candidates selected 15 each from Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Chennai zones will progress to the next level of screening in Chennai where they will face the main jury.

"At the end of it all, the winner will not only get recognition from renowned names in the music industry, but also a prize of Rs. 5 lakh," G.V. Krishnan, vice-president, Sales and Marketing, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel Limited, said.
