NAMAKKAL: Following the success of the State Government’s ‘Varummun Kappom’ healthcare scheme among the poor and needy, the Union Government has introduced a similar scheme in each Parliament constituency, said the Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Subbulakshmi Jegadeesan.

Success

Participating in the health mela, organised by the Namakkal district administration at the Avarankadu village in Tiruchengode Lok Sabha constituency on Sunday, the Minister said that the success of Varummun Kappom had spurred the Centre to adopt a similar scheme.

Accordingly, three medical camps per annum would be held in each Parliamentary constituency in the country to serve the poor and needy, she added.

The Minister pointed out that through such medical camps many poor people who were denied quality medical care were being treated. Free medicines were distributed to them.
