CHENNAI: General counselling for engineering seats under Anna University’s single window counselling is likely to begin on July 13, Vice-Chancellor D. Viswanathan told reporters here on Wednesday.

While counselling for the physically handicapped, vocational, other States and sports quota candidates would be held from July 9, the merit list for general counselling would be released on June 25.

A total of 95,155 applications had been received so far, of which 84,165 were for the academic stream. The number of seats available as of now was 65,500, and expected to go up.

Initially, about 1,500 students would be counselled a day, and this would go up to 3,000 subsequently. The required infrastructure was in place.

The Madras High Court’s ruling on Saturday, to maintain status quo till June 20 on the number of seats to be made available for single window counselling, would not affect the counselling process as the merit list would be released only after that, he added.
