CHENNAI: The Lily Pond complex, Moore Market, continues to have a single entry point, long after instructions were issued to keep the second gate open.

Garbage dumping next to the gate has ensured that the second gate cannot be kept open at all.

Corporation officials said that they had placed a garbage bin at the point but were unaware that the gate was not in use currently. While clearing garbage in the area is the responsibility of contractor Neel Metal Fanalca, conservancy within the complex is done by the Corporation, officials said.

Several vendors from across the city have been shifted to the area recently. This has meant that the area around the market complex has been marked into small parcels for the vendors who had previously occupied encroached space. Some vendors had complained during the shift that they had been given locations close to the garbage dump.
