Gang kidnaps three of family

CHENNAI: Three members of a family who went to discuss a property deal were allegedly kidnapped by a gang in Thiruvanmiyur on Monday evening. A police patrol team intercepted one of the vehicles used by the suspects and rescued two brothers.

According to police sources S. Harnath of Srinagar village in Kancheepuram district came to Thiruvanmiyur with his two brothers S. Shankar and S. Seetharam to discuss the sale of their property. A real estate agent had arranged the meeting with some prospective buyers.

At Thiruvanmiyur, about 20 persons who were waiting in three cars forced the three brothers into their vehicles and sped towards Mahabalipuram. On information, a police patrol tam led by the Neelankarai Sub-Inspector Kirubanidhi intercepted one of the vehicles and rescued Harnath and Shankar. One person involved in the alleged kidnap was taken into custody. A special team had gone to Mahabalipuram to rescue Seetharam and apprehend those involved in the case, the sources added.
