Free land and house site pattas inspected

NAGAPATTINAM: Special Commissioner for Land Administration Rameshram Mishra visited a few villages at random in the district on Saturday and verified the free agricultural lands provided to poor farmers and also the free house site pattas to the families that occupied the Government’s poromboke land for more than five years.

Mr. Mishra accompanied by M. Jayaraman, Collector, , visited Uthamachozhapuram, Kilvelur and other areas.

He interacted with the farmers and local people about cultivation of agricultural crops in the lands and the farmers briefed him about the suggestions made by the Agriculture department for raising the crops including paddy cultivation.

Mr. Mishra said that 1,808 acres of agricultural land were distributed to 2,947 farmers free of cost. Similarly, free house site pattas were provided to 16,178 families in the district. He pointed out that village panchayats were instructed to discuss removing encroachments that affected development in rural areas.
