Interaction between employees and employers organised

SALEM: The 58th ESIC Day celebrations and Special Services Fortnight for insured population began here with the Salem Sub Regional Office of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation hosting various events and interaction with employers and employees on various issues on Wednesday.

Joint Director, ESIC, Sub Regional Office, Salem S. Vasudevan, who was also the chairperson of the organising committee, addressed the gathering. He explained the significance of the ESIC Day and the service of the organisation to society.

ESI Corporation was inaugurated by the then Governor General Rajagopal- achariyar and Jawaharlal Nehru became the first insured person of ESI scheme.

V. Kanakasabai, Dean, Salem Government Medical College Hospital, inaugurated a medical camp in which many were screened for various ailments.

Chief Manager, R. Shanmugam, State Bank of India, Salem, Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, Shanmuga Hospitals, Dr. Balalakshimi, ESI Hospital, Loorthu Vedam, Deputy Director, ESI and M. Koodalingam, Assistant Director, ESI, also took part.

Later, an interaction with employers and employees also were held in which N. Parasuraman, Additional Commissioner and Regional Director, ESI Corporation, Regional Office, Chennai and other senior officials participated.

A workshop on ESI schemes would be organised at Attur on Thursday and another at Hosur the next day.

At the valedictory function at Salem on March 10, saplings would be planted.
