TIRUCHI: A large number of devotees pulled the temple cars at Sri Jambukeswarar-Akilandeswari temple in Tiruvanaikovil on Sunday on the occasion of the ‘Panguni Peruvizha’ currently on at the temple.

In the early hours, the procession idols were brought from the temple and taken to the temple cars.

Elaborate arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the festival which signifies the sixth day celebrations to mark the purification of mind by eliminating six forms of evils.

The cars were pulled by about 7.45 a.m. at the end of special religious rituals.

The cars were brought to rest late in the afternoon.

Following an accident last year, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) had fixed hydraulic brakes for one of the temple-cars on which Sri Ambal was taken around the car streets.
