Development works completed in 44 panchayats

Works taken up under the Annaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) in 44 panchayats in Mayiladuthurai have been completed.

In the remaining 10 panchayats - Boodhangudi, Kadalangudi, Varadhampat, Needur, Keezhmaruthandhanallur, Kaali, Sozhampettai, Thalainyayar, Sithamalli and Kadakkam - work would be completed by the end of this financial year, Collector C.Munianathan said here.

He was inspecting the works in Mayiladuthurai block. On the progress of the works in the aforementioned 10 panchayats, Mr.Munianathan said nine out of the 10 ponds were cleared of silt, and works were under progress with regard to laying of roads, drinking water connections and street lighting.

Projects taken up under AGAMT include an under-construction library building at a cost of Rs.3.50 lakh, laying of concrete road at a cost of Rs.1.35 lakh at Varadhampatt Panchayat and pond desilting works at the cost of Rs.5 lakh each at Needur and Kadakkam Panchayats.

Mr.Munianathan also inspected the laying of 2.33 km road at a cost of Rs.73 lakh under the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojanaat Thiruvaalathur Panchayat. He inspected the construction of an aided-primary school, built under the Namaku Namae Thittam at Kadakkam village, at a cost of Rs.5.50 lakh. Under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, each village panchayat is provided Rs.20 lakh.
