Designated PIO following Commission order

Shyam Ranganathan

CHENNAI: The Special Officer, Chief Minister’s Special Cell, has been designated the Public Information Officer (PIO) dealing with petitions under the Right to Information Act received by the Chief Minister’s Special Cell. The Office Order to this effect promptly follows a September 10 directive by the State Information Commission that it was mandatory for the CM’s Office, as a public authority, to designate officers as PIO and Appellate Authority. The Public Department was handling the RTI duties earlier, and even in the current appointment the Joint Secretary (Public) has been designated the Appellate Authority.
