“Centre, State should pressurise Rajapaksa government”

THANJAVUR: Members of MDMK led by Durai Balakrishnan, state assistant general secretary of the party, staged a demonstration before the head post office here demanding a ceasefire in Sri Lanka.

They urged the Central and State Governments to intervene and pressurise the Lankan Government to declare the ceasefire.

Food supply

They also wanted the Centre to supply food and drug materials to the Tamils.

Udhayakumar, district secretary, Ravichandran, town secretary, participated in the agitation.

Medicos’ protest

Students of Thanjavur Medical College led by Priyadarshini and Krishnakumar, final year MBBS students, also staged a demonstration demanding ceasefire in Sri Lanka.



Karur

MDMK cadres staged a demonstration near the Bus Stand here.

Party town secretary B.K. Thangaraj led the demonstration in which a lot of party workers raised slogans denouncing Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse and the Central Government.
