Cycling expedition fuelled by ‘green earth’ missionary zeal

CHENNAI: A 10-member team of Mechanical Transport Training Institute (MTTI), Indian Air Force, set out on a bicycle expedition to Bangalore on Wednesday to create awareness among the public of the need to conserve fuel for a greener earth.

Flagged off by Commanding Officer, MTTI, C.B. Shenoy, the expedition from Avadi would cover a distance of nearly 760 km. The team, led by Squadron leader J.Ravindra and flight lieutenant R.Sahani would cover various places, including Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Hosur, Bangalore, Arakkonam and Chittoor.

Mr.Shenoy said that eight of the team members were air warriors. The team would spread the message of fuel conservation, particularly among the youth. The expedition would be a test of endurance for the team members and also create awareness of the contribution of Indian Air Force to the country. The expedition members would halt in a few places to interact with the college and school students about the importance of saving fuel for a pollution free environment. The expedition would culminate on the MTTI premises in Avadi on February 9.
