Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy has refuted the charge of All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa that the Congress was "not taking a clear stand" on the Cauvery issue.

In a statement hereon Saturday, he said Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz had said the award would be implemented within a year.

The fact that normalcy returned in Karnataka had given relief to those who had faith in the unity of the country. Instead of probing who was the winner or the loser in the award, one should consider the fact that the overall interest of farmers was protected. He said that people would not forgive those who tried to make political capital out of the award.
