Collector honours town panchayat representatives, employees

ERODE: Collector Mahesan Kasirajan recently honoured presidents, executive officers and engineers of seven town panchayats for setting an example in implementing the Anaithu Peruratchi Anna Marumalarchi Thittam.

A release from the Collectorate says he gave away the State Government’s leading town panchayat certificates to the representatives of Olagadam, Nallampatti, Pethampalayam, Arachalur, Modakurichi, Oonjalur and Jambai.

Those local bodies dovetailed schemes from other departments in to the APAMT scheme and implemented development projects worth Rs. 1 crore.

They also conducted awareness camps on the scheme among the members of the public, ensured that the quality of the projects implemented was good, documented the works and ensured that the works got the necessary publicity, the release says and adds that the local bodies were selected based on the aforementioned selection criteria. The seven are among the 14 town panchayats selected for APAMT scheme during the 2007-08 financial year.
