Coimbatore: As many as 195 police personnel attended the counselling for the transfer of their choices.

The personnel from various wings in all the 15-police stations and in a number of special units took part in the counselling.

Usual procedure

The City Police used to transfer the personnel who complete three years of service in the same posting.

In a bid to keep morale of the personnel high and to avoid instances of being posted into inconvenient places, the City Police Commissioner, C.K. Gandhirajan mooted the idea of counselling for transfers.

New step

The idea of counselling was to ascertain their convenience more than likes and dislikes before thrusting a transfer order on them.

As many as 195 of them gave petitions indicating their choice. Commissioner along with the Deputy Commissioners of Police R. Tamil Chandran (Crime) and S.V. Karuppasamy (Headquarters) considered the petitions and instantly issued orders. Such a step would definitely boost the morale of the personnel and improve their efficiency, Mr.Gandhirajan said.
