Cancer awareness rally taken out

Organised by the 29 (TN) Independent Coy NCC, Tuticorin

Tuticorin: A rally was organised here on Tuesday by the 29 (TN) Independent Coy NCC, Tuticorin, to create an awareness of cancer and evils of tobacco to the people.

Mayor R. Kasthuri Thangam, flagged off the rally, which commenced at St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School.

The rally was taken out through Beach Road, Victoria Road and concluded at Tharuvai Stadium.

A total of 350 students from the Army Cadets of Kamaraj College, Karapettai Nadar Higher Secondary School, St. Mary’s College, St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School and V.O. Chidambaram College took part in the rally.

At the end of rally the participants took a pledge insisting the general public on shunning tobacco. Fr. M.A. Innaci, Headmaster, St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Lieutenant Colonel, M. Ganesan, Army Subedhar, M. Irulappan, Major V. Vijayakumar, Chief Officer, R. Srinivasan, and others participated.
