Campus training in shrimp farming

A campus training in shrimp farming was conducted by the Department of Coastal Aquaculture at Tharuvaikulam, which functions under Fisheries College and Research Institute here, on Monday. The programme aimed at imparting knowledge and creating awareness of shrimp farming among the participants. During the schedule, the participants were taught techniques of shrimp farming, and given on-farm demonstrations.

This kind of programmes would help people start their farming activity in coastal areas, said S. Athithan, Professor and Head of the Department.

A total of 30 people, including 25 women, from various parts of the district participated.
