Brothers bite each other

Periyanaickenpalayam police have registered a case against Mayilsamy (40) and Subramanian (36) who suffered injuries after biting each other over the issue of taking care of their mother Poovathal (60).

It is learnt that their mother was working as maid in houses for earning her livelihood, while the sons lived in the same area.

Neighbours advised them to take care of the mother or else would have to face action for not taking care of senior citizens as per the latest legislation.

Then, the brothers got together to work out a plan for taking care of their mother and the talks ended up in a heated exchange and at one stage, the duo started biting each other. Investigations are on.

Taken into custody

The police on Monday arrested four persons at Chinnavedampatti and three persons in Sullivan street on charge of gambling.

House looted

Burglars gained entry into the house of Mani, a construction supervisor at Bharath Nagar in Podanur area and decamped with cash and jewels weighing 13 sovereigns.

The incident took place when the inmates had gone to a temple.

Investigations are on and special teams have been formed.

Rice seized

Police intercepted a moped on the bypass road and arrested Subramani (36), after he was found transporting 40 kg of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice.

Girls rescued

Periyanaickenpalayam police have rescued a 17-year old girl studying in first year in a college and her sister aged 15 studying in 11 {+t} {+h} standard from a house in Sirumalaipudur in Dindigul district.

The girls had gone missing and following a complaint, the police suspected two youths Ajith and Sujin from Kerala staying in the same area and working in a nearby industrial unit to have taken the girls away assuring to marry them.

The police teams reached the house and on noticing the police zeroing in on them, the duo escaped.

Police have sent special teams to Kerala for nabbing them and two persons identified as Kumar and Ravikumar who helped the duo in getting a house have been picked up for questioning.

Burgled

Gold jewellery weighing 13 sovereigns and Rs. 20,000 in cash were reported stolen from the house of a 48-year-old farmer at Gudimangalam near Tirupur on Tuesday night.

Police sources said that the victim, Thirumalaisamy, had gone out to purchase some essential commodities and his wife was away grazing cattle when the incident took place.

The accused, according to police, gained entry by breaking open the front door lock.

Robbery attempt

Two persons were taken into custody for attempted to rob a contractor of Rs 2.10 lakh at Thekkampatti near Karamadai on Tuesday.
