Tuticorin: The employees of District Central Cooperative Bank staged a demonstration here on Friday, to press their charter of demands.

They demanded increments to their pay to be calculated with retrospective effect from July 1, 1999.

Steps should be expedited to promote employees in the bank, who have not received any promotion for many years. The post of superintendent should always be filled by employees on promotion, rather than by somebody deputed from outside.

Medical benefits should be reintroduced to all employees at the bank and a pension scheme should be evolved, they said.

About 50 persons took part in the agitation.
