BSNL introduces rent-free phones

Existing landline and WLL subscribers can migrate to new plans

Coimbatore: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has introduced rent-free plans for telephone in landline and Wireless in Local Loop segments with effect from May 1.

A release from the Principal General Manager said that the five new plans were named Plan 600 and Plan 1000 for rural areas and Plan 1200, Plan 2160 and Plan 1800 for urban areas.

The lump sum annual fixed charges (non-refundable) for Plan 600, Plan 1000, Plan 1200 and Plan 1800 are Rs 600, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,800 respectively. The lump sum biennial fixed charges for Plan 2160 are Rs. 2,160 and there would be no monthly charges.

Free calls per month for Plans 600 and 1000 are 30 calls and for Plans 1200, 2160 and 1500, the free calls would be 50.

Unit rate per MCU is 80 paise for Plan 600 and Re. 1 for Plans 1000, 1200, 2160 and 1800. Validity would be 12 months for Plans 600, 1000, 1200 and 1800 and 24 months for Plan 2160.

The pulse rate is as per general plan for Plans 600, 1200 and 2160 and as per One India Plan for Plans 1200 and 1800. Installation charges of Rs. 300 for rural areas and Rs. 500 for urban areas and service tax would be as applicable.

The existing landline and WLL subscribers could also migrate to these plans on payment of prescribed amount. For details, interested customers could contact the nearest BSNL customer service centre/authorised franchisees or dial 2437600/2454545.
