CHENNAI: The police arrested a BPO employee on charges of criminal intimidation through anonymous mail here on Thursday.

Police said that they received a letter on March 8, which warned that two landmark buildings in the city would be destroyed. A special team was formed to investigate.

The letter bore the name of Prakash of Pallavan Salai Thiru Vi Ka Nagar. When police checked at the address it was found that Stalin Sajeesh (25), a native of Mysore, residing on Kuppiah Street, Mambalam, working in a BPO company here, had wanted to marry a girl. However, she married someone else.

An annoyed Sajeesh wrote a letter with warnings in the name of the girl's husband and posted it to the Commissioner of Police. The police booked Sajeesh under Sections 506 (ii) (punishment for criminal intimidation), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
