Appeal to keep environs clean

SALEM: The Salem district administration has appealed to the people to keep their surroundings clean and drain out the rainwater stagnated in containers immediately in order to prevent mosquito breeding,

A press release from the administration said that sporadic cases of chikungunya were reported in the district after the beginning of South West Monsoon.

Diseases like chikungunya, malaria and dengue were spread by mosquitoes.

People should keep the water containers tightly closed and ensure that their surroundings were clean.

They should drain out fresh water from unused tyres, vessels, containers, overhead tanks etc., where the mosquitoes that spread chikungunya proliferate. People should approach the nearby government hospital, primary health centre or sub centre if they felt feverish.
