Animation: "Job prospects high"

TIRUCHI: Despite a huge growth in the Indian animation industry, the country woefully lacks in workforce in areas of web designing, animation and computer gaming, according to Art Director Anjan Cariappa M.M.

The animation industry was looking for people who were either good at technology or fine arts. An art director for a couple of full-length animated movies including `Alibaba' and `The Legend of Buddha,' Mr. Cariappa, said that most visual communication and fine arts graduates opted for graphics designing, while job opportunities for these graduates were higher in animation industry and computer gaming.

He was addressing presspersons here on Saturday at a function to mark the second anniversary of Image Infotainment, Tiruchi Centre.

An institute of multimedia arts and graphic effects, Image plans to open 12 centres in Mumbai and Delhi, to add to its 28 existing centres across the country.

V. Swaminathan, the Country Manager of Image Infotainment, Chennai, explained the courses visual design course, Graphic Designer course, advanced courses, including Web designer and CG and Post Production programmes offered by the institute.
