All-India postal kabaddi tournament starts tomorrow

Eight teams to participate in the event; entry is free

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Postal Region under the auspices of Tamil Nadu Postal Circle will conduct the 23rd All-India Postal Kabaddi Tournament from January 27 to 30 at the multi-purpose open ground in Tiruchi Head Post Office complex here. The four-day tournament will be played on rubber mat. Entry is free.

Briefing media persons here on Monday, S. P. Rajalingam, Postmaster General, Tiruchi region, said that eight teams from as many postal circles – Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat and Rajasthan – will participate in the tournament, which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis. R.K. Kakkar, Commissioner, Income Tax, Tiruchi, will inaugurate the tournament on Wednesday in the presence of S.K. Chakrabarti, Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu circle and Olympian P. Subramanian. Mr. Chakrabarti will release a special postal cover in connection with the tournament on the occasion, Mr. Rajalingam informed. S. Subramhanyan, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, will be chief guest for the valediction.
