Administration to create farm ponds

Staff Reporter

NAMAKKAL: The district administration would create farm ponds in the land which were given to the landless farm labourers under the two-acre free land scheme, Collector G. Sundaramurthi said.

In a statement here on Wednesday, the Collector said that creation of farm ponds would help harvest rainwater and improve the ground water level. A sum of Rs. 2,750 would be spent for constructing a farm pond.

The farm labourers, who received lands under the scheme, should submit an application with the details about their land to the Agriculture Extension Office within June 20.

The Collector said that the applications would be scrutinised and officials from the Agriculture, Agriculture engineering and Horticulture departments would inspect the lands.
