Accused in murder case surrenders

TIRUCHI: J. Chandramohan (26), the prime accused in the murder of a milk vendor, P. Narayanan, that took place on Thursday in Srirangam police station limits surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi Rural A. Kaliyamoorthy here on Saturday.

The accused Chandramohan, a rowdy, confessed of having committed the murder, police said.

Narayanan (34), a resident of Srirangam, was a prosecution witness in an attempt to murder case in which the family members of Chandramohan were cited as accused by the Srirangam Police. Narayanan deposed before the court despite being threatened by Chandramohan with dire consequences which was the motive behind the murder.

Narayanan was waylaid by a group led by Chandramohan and attacked with aruval. Subsequently, the body was taken in a vehicle and the head was severed from the trunk. The body was dumped in a bush in Samayapuram police station limits. Police said the severed head was recovered in Varapatti village in Dindigul district on Saturday.

Chandramohan who has been absconding since November is involved in over 12 cases including murder, attempt to murder and robbery.
