Aadi Perukku celebrated

SALEM: Lakhs celebrated the Aadi Perukku festival on the banks of river Cauvery in Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts on Monday. The river banks were teemed with people who had offered special prayers.

Special buses were operated to Mettur, Edapadi, Hoganekkal, Bhavani Kooduthurai and other areas which abut Cauvery river.

The police made special bandobust arrangements in which divers were roped in to meet any emergency situation. ADSP Elangovan supervised the security arrangements.

One person was found missing in the river near Edapadi on Monday morning. A search has been ordered to find him. Special cameras were installed in Salem Fort Sri Mariamman Temple.
