AIR to broadcast new programme from today

To mark 70th anniversary of Tiruchi station’s inception

TIRUCHI: To mark the 70th anniversary of its inception, the Tiruchi station of All India Radio will introduce a new programme ‘Kaviri Poongattru’ from Sunday through its first channel.

Commencing at 6.55 a.m., the 50-minute programme will focus on various topics including health tips, music, environment, noble thoughts, news and Tamil literature, according to a press release issued here on Saturday.

The release also said that the ‘Velaan Arangam’ programme in which agricultural experts participated and expressed their views, which was broadcast at 3 p.m., will be on the air at 2.30 p.m. daily with effect from Monday.

Vocal concert

A vocal concert by R.N. Srilatha in memory of the Music Trinity, will be broadcast as the Akila Bharath music programme from 9.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The Tiruchi Station recorded the concert before an invited audience last month.
