90 youths duped of Rs. 1 crore, 2 arrested

KRISHNAGIRI: The district crime police arrested two persons on Monday for duping 90 youths to the tune of Rs. 1 crore.

It is alleged that Kamelesan (45) from Bagelapalli in Dharmapuri district and Muniappan (50) an ex-servicemen from Baleguri in Krishnagiri district conned about 90 youths from both districts on the pretext of helping them get employment.

The duo promised the youths admission and employment at the Military Academy run by Babu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh.

They collected Rs. 85,000 to Rs. 1.20 lakh from the youths four months ago.

After four months, the youths were taken to Andhra Pradesh and were made to wait 10 to 15 days by the duo.

In the mean time Muniappan absconded to Bangalore with the money collected from the youth.

The youths then complained to the Krishnagiri Superintendent of Police Anisha Hussein.

Acting on the complaint, the district crime branch police have arrested Kamalesan and Muniappan and registered a case.

Further investigation is going on.
