CHENNAI, DEC. 27. Seventy-seven cases out of a total of 92 were settled at the first Lok Adalat of Chennai Corporation conducted on December 18 for settlement of Property Tax appeals pending before the Taxation Appellate Tribunal.
A total tax sum of Rs. 80.28 lakhs was awarded for the cases filed in the first half of 1993-94 and the second half of 1998-99, an official release said. The next Lok Adalat will be taken up in due course and the appellants can send their options to the Chairman, Taxation Appellate Tribunal, to list their cases.
