5,000 vaccinated by railway teams

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Railway Division set up booths in all the 110 major and small railway stations in its jurisdiction for administering polio drops on Sunday.

Divisional Railway Manager S. Subramhanyan inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to a few children travelling by the Chennai-bound Vaigai Express at Tiruchi Junction in the morning, in the presence of the Chief Medical Supervisor, Goldenrock Railway Hospital, P. Velusamy.

Special teams comprising members of the St. John’s Ambulance unit of the Railways, para-medical staff and nursing assistants drawn from the Railway Hospital travelled in all express and passenger trains that passed through the division throughout the day and administered the drops. The whole campaign was monitored by Mr. Velusamy. Over 5,000 children were covered during the day by these teams, according to the Public Relations Officer, C. K. Sivaraj.

Campaign

The Railway Hospital staff, pharmacists, para-medical staff along with the Scouts and Guides conducted pulse polio campaign at the Goldenrock Railway Colony on Friday and at the Kallukuzhi Colony on Saturday. They visited the houses in the colony seeking their support for the success of this campaign.
