49 recruited at placement programme

MADURAI : The State-level placement programme conducted by Anna University was completed here on Monday with 49 students, who passed out from self-financing engineering colleges, getting recruited by Caritor India Private Limited, a multi-national company.

Interviews were conducted to short-listed candidates following a written test that was held on Sunday.

According to P. Mannar Jawahar, Director, Centre for University-Industry Collaboration, Anna University, a total of 1,674 students who passed out in the 2005 batch attended the written test, of whom 313 were selected for the interview.

He said the company had selected 49 students with a salary of Rs. 2.06 lakhs per annum each. Most of them would be placed in Chennai and the rest in Bangalore. Appointment orders would be sent to the selected candidates in two weeks.

Dr. Jawahar said the university was attaching importance to organise off-campus drive and placement programmes for students of self-financing engineering colleges affiliated to it.
