46 candidates selected for self-employment scheme under PMEGP

KRISHNAGIRI: As many as 46 candidates were selected for the self-employment scheme under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in Dharmapuri District. The task force committee recommended the banks to sanction loan to the tune of Rs. 2.74 crore.

The beneficiaries were selected based on the personal interview conducted by the task force committee under the chairmanship of Collector P. Amutha and member-convener and District Industries Centre (DIC) General Manager, T. Mohan Rangan on January 22 in Dharmapuri.

A press release issued by the DIC here on Wednesday said that 94 applications were received for PMEGP loan. Among them 73 candidates appeared for the personal interview. Three applications were rejected as they are ineligible.

Based on merits

Loans would be sanctioned by the Banks based on the merit of the applications recommended.

If sanctioned, the quantum of subsidy would be 15 per cent of the project cost for general category in urban areas and 25 per cent in rural area. For special categories such as SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, ex-servicemen, physically handicapped etc., the subsidy would be 25 per cent of the project cost in urban areas and 35 per cent in rural area, the release added.
