3 men commit suicide

TAMBARAM: In separate incidents in the southern suburbs of Chennai, three men committed suicide at their homes.

On Sunday, Suresh (26) immolated himself and was admitted to the burns ward of Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he died on Monday evening. Hailing from Ginjee in Tiruvannamalai district, Suresh was working in the construction site of a residential township in Jalladampettai near Medavakkam. He was living with his wife Jothi and their six-month-old son.

The Pallikaranai police said Suresh was reported to have had frequent quarrels with his relatives, which forced him to take the extreme step. The incident took place at the workers quarters near the construction site, police added.

On Maagani Ammal Koil Street in St. Thomas Mount, D. Rose (37) hanged himself as a result of a quarrel with his relatives on Monday evening. Married to Limarose, he has three children. He was working in a private company and was reportedly pulled up by his relatives for not handing over his monthly salary on time. Upset, the victim resorted to the extreme step.

In the Staff Quarters of the Defence Ministry in Nandambakkam, a 24-year-old man died instantly when he fell from the terrace of a two-storyed building after he set himself ablaze. The victim, G.Ganesan, was working as a house-keeping assistant in an IT park in Guindy. Police said he returned home from work when he had argument with his relatives, one of whom was disabled. He was reported to have assaulted them and upset over this, he set himself ablaze and ran to the terrace from where he fell down. He dashed his head against one of the slabs and died instantly, police said.
